Joey Thunder Shows Us How To Make A Skull Into Art
For Christmas I wanted to do something a little personal for the girlfriend. Something she could keep a long time and something hand crafted. I decided to paint her a skull (one of her favorite things).
From there I decided I wanted it a pink, high contrasted skull on an intensely chunky back ground which I'd use a painting knife to do so.
Once the black was laid out I sketched on a skull quickly realizing I wanted the skull red instead due to shadow and color effects (granted pink would have worked but I'm still new to acrylic paint and learning as I go).
After the skull was mainly done, I made a little formula with teal, knowing the color combo would be nice and decided to do a nice outline around the skull and let the teal do it's own thing around the textured paint.
After that I made a watered down mixture of some browns and bronzes to get a "dirty" look to amplify the foreheads shadow and the frown look it has. Lastly I decided to add a little pop art and and some pen work for fine detail.
Safe to say it was a success, for thee girlfriend was happy. :)
